Notable Youth Guitar Method I
Dan's Notable Youth Guitar Method I book will introduce you to chords, note reading, and his unique approach to the five note pentatonic scale, which is referred to by his students at "DOTS". Also, this method book is totally unique because it coordinates with bass, drums, piano, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, violin, viola, banjo, and every other symphonic instrument on earth. It is the essence of the Notable Youth Pops Orchestra. The Notable Youth Guitar Method Book I has an optional companion CD allowing students to listen to and play along with each exercise and song.
Notable Youth Vocal Workbook
Dan's original interst in music started when his uncle's sat around the campfire singing four part barbershop music. Dan's parents had all the children study an instrument in elemenatry school, where he played the trumpet. Later that year the teacher told him his lips were too fat, so he put him on the tuba. When Dan went to junior high and auditioned for the band, Mr. Peterson quickly turned him over to the choir teacher because his lips were still too fat. But fat lips were really good for singing!
Soon folk music hit campus and Dan played guitar, banjo, autoharp, and sang with his school friends. He didn't really get serious about voice training until he toured with The Letterman in 1966. He joined them as a bass player and saw vocal problems up close and when he got off tour he studied extensively with vocal instructors that ledc to a lifelong vocal recording career.
This method book is unique from all other method books out there because of Dan's understanding of tone placement, breath control and early development of the diaphragm in children under 12.

This linquistic approach to regular reading is used with young boys (mostly) that either cannot or will not read music because their eyes dance so much from either TV or video games or other attention defecit challenges. We read the notes to a metronome, then we read the words to a metronome, and then we record to background music. These simple exercises are read to music and recorded and then given to each student on a CD.
