Gary Evans

Gary is from Northern Viriginia. He played a variety of instruments in school including french horn and guitar. He plays bass and guitar professionally and has traveled the world. He came to the Whitley Studio folk band in 1993 and has been a friend and valuable musical associate ever since.

Gary has a great love for music and teaching. He has been a mentor for several notable musicians that have come through Whitley studios, inspiring them in their careers and playing bass for many of them. He teaches in the studio as well as homes of students.

Vocal Tip

Children under 12 who learn voice have a tendency to raise their chin and yell their music. Amateaur music teachers in elementary schhols and church groups tend to tell the kids to sing louder. The focus should be on keping your chin down, open your mouth wide and use plenty of air, but don't yell. And of course, come to the 7 a.m. Saturday vocal class and get one of Dan's Notable Youth singing books.
